Andrew-Bishop-profile

Andrew graduated in law from the University of Exeter in 1987 and did his training at a commercial law firm in the City of London.

On qualification in 1991 he moved to Brighton to specialise in Criminal Defence.

He is the Managing Director and a founding partner of Bishop and Light Solicitors.

The firm was founded in 1995 as a niche Criminal Defence and Mental Health Tribunal practice. It has retained these areas of work as its core practice areas.

Since then he has defended in just about every type of Criminal case including clients charged with murder, serious fraud and serious sex cases.

Andrew obtained Higher Rights, the right to appear in the Crown Court and Court of Appeal, in 1999. He has represented clients as junior advocate in cases of murder and conspiracy and on his own in cases including serious assault, conspiracy to murder, sexual assault and fraud.

Andrew combines his practice with overall management of the firm which has been awarded the prestigious Law Society Lexcel Quality mark and been successfully peer reviewed in both Criminal and Mental Health Tribunal Law.

Away from work Andrew's interests include his family, running marathons and supporting Bristol City Football Club.
