Kevin Light profile

Kevin Light
Kevin Light is a founding Partner and current Director of Bishop and Light Solicitors.

He has over 30 years experience defending cases at the Police Station and in Criminal Courts.

Kevin has had Higher Rights of Audience for over 10 years and regularly appears in the Crown Court and Court of Appeal (Criminal) Division.

Kevin has a particular interest in and skill in cases of complex fraud, conspiracy and confiscation proceedings.

He has taken two seminal cases to the House of Lords (now Supreme Court).

R v Preddy, [1996] AC 815 led to a change in the law in respect of cases of mortgage fraud.

R v Saik, [2007] 1 AC 18 clarified the law on the intent required to convict in a case of conspiracy to money launder.

In another case R v Olden, EWCA, Crim, 2007, 726 Kevin, along with Ivan Krolik of Counsel, successfully argued that the Defendant's interview should have been excluded from evidence and the Court of Appeal quashed multiple convictions of Mortgage fraud.

These cases are a source of professional pride but more importantly led to the clients' convictions being quashed.

Kevin regularly accepts instructions from across the UK in cases of fraud, money laundering and confiscation.
