Geoff Lockerbie profile

Geoff Lockerbie graduated from Newcastle upon Tyne University with LLB (Hons)in 1970. He trained with a firm of solicitors in Sunderland and was admitted as a solicitor in 1973.

He remained with the same firm and soon became a partner and eventually, senior partner. During that time, he had a general practice, but he was involved in criminal matters on a daily basis.

He moved to a firm in Carlisle, Cumbria in 2005 and then became a consultant with Bishop and Light in 2017.

Geoff has considerable experience of representing people accused of murder, attempted murder, serious assaults and sexual assaults in both police stations and magistrates courts. He is a duty solicitor.

Geoff has always been an active sportsman but now concentrates his efforts on lawn green bowls and walking near to his home. He also enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren whenever the opportunity arises.

Complaints

We want to give you the best possible service. However, if at any point you become unhappy or concerned about the service, we have provided then you should inform us immediately, so that we can do our best to resolve the problem.

In the first instance it may be helpful to contact the person who is working on your case to discuss your concerns and we will do our best to resolve any issues. If you would like to make a formal complaint, then you can read our full complaints procedure here.

Making a complaint will not affect how we handle your case.

What to do if we cannot resolve your complaint

The Legal Ombudsman can help you if we are unable to resolve your complaint ourselves. They will look at your complaint independently and it will not affect how we handle your case.

Before accepting a complaint for investigation, the Legal Ombudsman will check that you have tried to resolve your complaint with us first. If you have, then you must take your complaint to the Legal Ombudsman:

A change to the time limits from 1 April 2023, the time limits for referring a complaint to the Legal Ombudsman will be no later than:

• one year from the date of the act or omission being complained about; or

• one year from the date when the complainant should have realised that there was cause for complaint.
