Jason La Corbiniere profile

Jason graduated from the Inns of Court School of Law in 2000.

He worked at the Treasury Solicitors Office, London, for a number of years and on several high profile cases including the Bloody Sunday Inquiry (into the killings of 14 unarmed civilians at a civil rights march by the British Army in 1972); the Zahid Mubarek Inquiry (into the murder in prison of a teenage inmate by his racist cellmate) and the Rosemary Nelson Inquiry (into the murder of the Belfast human rights lawyer by paramilitaries in Northern Ireland, and whether there was state collusion).

Jason joined Bishop and Light in 2004 and has experience in most areas of criminal law - from minor offences to the most serious such as murder, attempted murder, rape, armed robbery, drug importation and supply, non-recent (historical) sexual abuse, fraud and computer crime.

Recent notable cases include complex multi-handed cases such as

R v R and others (2019) at Lewes Crown Court (large scale conspiracy to defraud – “car-ringing”);

R v C and others (2018) at Woolwich Crown Court (people trafficking);

R v P and others (2018) at Isleworth Crown Court (gang -related kidnap and grievous bodily harm).

Since 2016 Jason has also provided advice and assistance on immigration applications for clients wishing to secure and legalise their rights to enter and remain in the UK. He successfully secures lawful permission to enter, remain and reside in the UK for clients and their families.

He assists clients and their families to secure British nationality and travel documents as well as applications for Irish or other EU passports where appropriate..

Complaints

We want to give you the best possible service. However, if at any point you become unhappy or concerned about the service, we have provided then you should inform us immediately, so that we can do our best to resolve the problem.

In the first instance it may be helpful to contact the person who is working on your case to discuss your concerns and we will do our best to resolve any issues. If you would like to make a formal complaint, then you can read our full complaints procedure here.

Making a complaint will not affect how we handle your case.

What to do if we cannot resolve your complaint

The Legal Ombudsman can help you if we are unable to resolve your complaint ourselves. They will look at your complaint independently and it will not affect how we handle your case.

Before accepting a complaint for investigation, the Legal Ombudsman will check that you have tried to resolve your complaint with us first. If you have, then you must take your complaint to the Legal Ombudsman:

A change to the time limits from 1 April 2023, the time limits for referring a complaint to the Legal Ombudsman will be no later than:

• one year from the date of the act or omission being complained about; or

• one year from the date when the complainant should have realised that there was cause for complaint.
